Tribal Seeds & Kabaka Pyramid

5/23/24 Wonder Ballroom… Portland Oregon

TRIBAL SEEDS & KABAKA PYRAMID

On Thursday, May 23rd, the Tribal Seeds Ancient Blood Tour came thru to the Wonder Ballroom here in Portland, Oregon. They were teamed up with one of my favorite reggae acts, Grammy award winners Kabaka Pyramid. I was happy to have the opportunity to cover the show for KPSU.

As I entered the ballroom, openers Inna Vision were still on stage warming up the room, which was packed with reggae fans & a chill vibe.  The sound was excellent, and the crowd was loving the joyful island style they deliver. After a quick switch, Kabaka Pyramid began an outstanding performance! The band was beaming with all the irie energy we’d hoped for. Puffs of ganja smoke popped up everywhere and niceness filled the room. Their set was incredible, but also very short… Fortunately, Tribal Seeds brought him back on stage, later. Their song “Red Green and Gold” was the highlight of the performance, for me. Please check out my attached YouTubes, to share the experience!

Tribal Seeds fans pulled in closer as the headliners began. Throughout their performance, I was captivated by a mystery man added to their line-up. He sang and played guitar and I missed it when they introduced him. Later, I was able to identify him as Stephen Suckarie, previously of the band New Kingston. He was a fantastic entertainer and a magical addition to this group. I’m curious to see if he will be a permanent member, I hope so! The highlight of the Tribal Seeds set for me was “In Your Eyes”. Suckarie added a dynamic layer to this classic song that was strikingly beautiful. The crowd sang along and it was a whole vibe in and of itself. I’ve attached one of my YouTubes for you to share in this sweet moment, as well.

This night of reggae music far exceeded all expectations for me. It was a little bit like a reggae fireworks show… so many exciting moments bubbling and bursting throughout the evening. With these stellar performances from each of the bands on the Ancient Blood tour, it’s no wonder I enjoyed every minute of it, and the sweet sensation after.

Love,

SuzyQ💕
