The Return of the Deftones at Moda Center 4.14.22

Written by on May 2, 2022

Better late than never but here is my review of the long-awaited return of the Deftones.

The Deftones kicked off their North American tour right here in Portland, Oregon at the Mood Center after a long hiatus from the music scene and being postponed since the summer of 2020.

The opening French metal band Gojira was amazing with their explosive grind and had the entire crowd cheering with their crowd favorites Another World and L’enfant savage gaining much love from fans.

When Sextape came on, the melody moved everyone with couples kissing and people standing up from their chairs and dancing to the song that was a fan favorite from their Diamond Eyes album. I think I cried at one point.

When Chane (In the House of Flies) came on you know everyone was screaming and rushed with their phones to record this famous song known by every middle schooler and Hot Topic employee, I was both.

I attended with my friend Jack coming in late after getting a snack before the concert as we didn’t dare skip a moment of this concert. An array of epic visuals and pyrotechnics added to the show that kept everyone captivated. We were by far the youngest with parents who were fans in their youths with their children as everyone sang along with lead singer Chino Moreno.
