Ani DiFranco 1/30/25

Recently, Ani DiFranco made a two-night stop here in Portland, Oregon. Both nights were sold out and the town was abuzz with anticipation of such an iconic artist. I was so fortunate to be able to cover this show for KPSU, Portland’s college radio.

I arrived at Revolution Hall right before the opening act began. The place was packed, but the vibe was friendly and fun.

Joy Clark was the artist touring this leg with Ani, and she literally blew my mind. I was overwhelmed by her beautiful voice and her song Shine has been living in my head ever since. I was delighted to meet her for a few moments afterwards, and I hope she returns to Portland soon!

Ani DiFranco shot to fame in the mid-90’s, when I was a college student. I’ve heard her been called one of the most gifted and respected North American singer-songwriters of our time.  Her autobiographical and political works built deep connection with her devoted fans. Her authenticity is fascinating and inspiring. When Ani took the stage, the crowd erupted. A standing ovation upon entrance says it all, this woman is immensely loved.

I’ve never seen someone so comfortable in their own skin as Ani DiFranco. The way she moves as she plays guitar is beautifully expressive and natural. Her band was a perfectly curated group of stellar musicians with a strong cohesiveness amongst them. This lovely performance was engaging and thought provoking. I was able to take some photos and video clips to share with you guys, so please check them out!

I was really grateful to have had this opportunity to experience her magic in person.  It was a lovely and inspiring evening…

Thank you, to Ani and Righteous Babe Records.

Love,

SuzyQ💕
