Today’s episode highlighted music by the very talented ORA77K. ORA77K is a queer black artist currently residing in Westlake, Los Angeles. They began writing at only 7 years old, after reading a poem in a kids magazine “Highlights”. Since then, they picked up the guitar and began singing their lyrics. ORA77K is a play on the name Kllaro, backward and upside down. At the age of 13, Ora was self-labeled “Kllaro”. This was at the time of their production of consistently indie/acoustic music. Around 3 years later, they began to branch out and make indie rap beats to write to. This prompted the name change, to something edgier. Rapping brought more attention along, and Ora began landing local venues to rap at. Kllaro’s musical inspirations consist of Frank, Choker, JPEG, Earl, and Aphex Twin. Two projects on all platforms: ORKKA, a duo consisting of Ora and Brad Valentine featuring traces of experimental electronic music and their solo work 2-song EP named Deletus featuring one rap song and one acoustic song under ORA77K. You can find Kllaro on Instagram @ora77k.
Today’s episode played mostly unreleased tracks. You can find a few of the tracks played today on this playlist:
