static + distance

An end of the year vinyl mix consisting of songs to help you wind down and kick back. Static + Distance will return in January.

A continuous vinyl mix of indie pop, afrobeat, psychedelic and more. This one is scattered stylistically speaking, but surprisingly coherent.

Ryan Wisnor joined me to spin some tracks and discuss our new history talk show, Beyond Footnotes, which premieres next Friday at 2pm. Songs today about plagues, states and history.

Each episode of Static + Distance begins with a (usually) unobtrusive track playing while I give a short run down of the episode to come. This week, I revisit those intro tracks in a continuous mix of ambient, Americana and downtempo. Enjoy.

This week, no theme, but rather a series of songs that link together as the mix moves along. Songs about the past, the unchangeable and perspective. Photo: Théodore Géricault’s The Raft Of The Medusa. Click here to stream

Songs with a mystery. UFO abductions, murderous recordings, uncredited artists and more. Check out the video for iamamiwhoami’s “N” and the terrifying concert she put on.

The Domestics stopped by KPSU to chat, play some of their favorite jams and perform a few of their own. You can check out a complete review of their latest album and stream it at StaticDistance.com.

Jams of the summer variety. Everything from locals The Domestics to kiwi rock legend Chris Knox.

Zach’s back with me this week and he’s got some gems. We stuck to folk and country this time around and brought you some down home, summer night pluckin’.

This is not the original broadcast from July 1st. This is far superior. A mix of some top-notch house, IDM and experimental electronic. For best results, listen after dark. Note: You can download the mix below, but if you’d rather just stream it, then head over to Mixcloud.
