The art was done by a Japanese illustration team called Gurihiru, whose work you might have previously seen in the Avatar: the Last Airbender comics.
Writer Gene Luen Yang was also a writer for the Airbender comics, but is probably most famous for his award winning graphic novel American Born Chinese, A book about Chinese American identity, racist stereotypes and pressures to conform.
