Today, instead of a poem, I included a section of the speech about “The Other America” by Martin Luther King Jr. to commemorate him on this day. This is in the playlist that I made and am sharing below called “America?” that shows over time how we need to do our best to be adding to the good and the community-building in our country instead of being part of the harm and hate that is also a part of us we have not removed yet. Note: the word Dr. King uses for black Americans is one that was used in his time, but is a source of pain due to its use in times before and since. Because of that, I want to give advance warning of its presence in the speech.
