Real Soon in Rose City 9/25/20: The Fugazi Story, Part 1
Written by Nedtilbrook Tilbrook on September 25, 2020
This week I decided to borrow the format my good friend Robin AKA DJ Bristol used to use on Let Me Introduce and focus on one band for the whole show (and whole next show): Fugazi.
In my role as staff here at KPSU I’ve been spending a lot of time in our CD collection and I’ve been listening to a band I’ve been meaning to get into for a long while – Fugazi. Fugazi were a bit before my time, but other 90s band such as Nirvana, Dinosaur Jr, Pixies, and Sonic Youth were required listening in my dad’s house, where Fugazi weren’t – despite being an enormous influence on so many bands, including many of those just mentioned. Indeed, among other things, Fugazi serve as a creative bridge between the punk, mod, and hardcore scenes of the 70s and 80s and the grunge alternative, and indie rock of the 90s and beyond. Well worth two hours of your time then!
This week I cover the first half of their career from 13 Songs through to In on the Kill Taker.
(Sadly, due to technical difficulties, this one was not recorded.)
