Multimedia Director

Starting Fall Term 2018

Compensation: $1,500 per-term stipend

11-19 hours per week

The Multimedia Director is responsible for the visual aspects of KPSU as well as managing KPSU social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram). This includes creating media such as posters for upcoming events, graphics for the website, banners, t-shirt, merchandise, custom graphics etc. The Multimedia Director will work closely with the Promotions Director to create graphics for various web and print outlets, coordinate promotion on social media platforms, and send press releases to local news outlets, and manage the majority of KPSU’s outward-facing communication.  

Major Responsibilities:

  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite CS5+ recommended
  • Understand basic design concepts
  • Conceptualize design campaigns especially with the annual Pledge Drive
  • Develop and design materials for print and web for various events
  • Use photographs thoughtfully and appropriately in design concepts
  • Practice proper file management/formatting and have high standards for organization
  • Properly format files for output to print vendors
  • Knowledge of digital photo editing and processing for print and web
  • Coordinate social media coverage (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube)
  • Work closely with the Promotions Director and FedEx
  • Hold and adhere to regularly scheduled office hours
  • Attend weekly staff meetings

Minimum Requirements:

  • PSU student (must take 4 credits undergrad, 5 credits graduate 3 out of 4 terms)
  • Minimum GPA (2.5 undergrad, 3.0 graduate)
  • Attend Media Fellows Leadership sessions (3 per term)
  • Art & Design student a plus, but not required
  • Excellent communication skills

Programming Director

Starting Spring/Summer 2019

Compensation : $1,900 per-term stipend

11-19 hours per week

The Programming Director maintains a professional broadcast at KPSU.  The equipment is kept in proper order and equipment difficulties are immediately addressed.  The program director coordinates scheduling of DJs every term. The program director monitors DJ responsibility, professionalism, and adherence to KPSU/FCC policy.  The programming director is responsible for maintaining the KPSU program schedule, DJ conflict resolution and ensures that DJ’s adhere to programming guidelines.The programming director must lead New DJs through the training process working side by side with the Station Manager and Volunteer Director.

Major Responsibilities:

  • will monitor all KPSU programs at least once per term for programming quality and professionalism
  • will produce a finalized programming schedule under a specific deadline every quarter and will schedule all DJs based on input and direction from the station manager
  • will be responsible for contacting new and returning DJs about scheduling
  • will be responsible for checking the program and transmitter logs monthly for accuracy and fulfillment of underwriting, Public Service Announcements, and promotional requirements, and will contact those DJs that are in violation
  • consult with Station Manager on maintenance, security, operational problems, procedural issues, and disciplinary issues
  • with Station Manager decision, will write and send disciplinary notification letters to DJs in violation of KPSU policy
  • keep strong communication with the Station Manager and also with all KPSU DJs
  • report progress of activities and volunteer opportunities to the Station Manager
  • attend weekly staff meetings
  • maintain current station security lists

Minimum Requirements:

  • PSU student (must take 4 credits undergrad, 5 credits graduate 3 out of 4 terms)
  • minimum GPA (2.5 undergrad, 3.0 graduate)
  • good communication and leadership skills
  • excellent knowledge of FCC rules and regulations
  • excellent knowledge of radio broadcast technology

Promotions Director

Starting Fall 2019

  • The promotions director is responsible for promoting KPSU events, coordinating ticket giveaways, and booking bands for KPSU events. The promotions director organizes events, coordinates with media sources, manages KPSU’s general outreach, and works closely with the Multimedia director to coordinate coverage on KPSU’s social media accounts.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Plan events and book bands for those events
  • Accurately coordinate and submit all event paperwork
  • Handle outgoing press releases alongside the Multimedia director
  • Maintain a media contact database
  • Work closely with the Multimedia director to coordinate the production of all promotion materials and social media coverage
  • Coordinate co-sponsorship activities with other student groups and outside organizations
  • Hold and adhere to regularly scheduled office hours
  • Attend weekly staff meetings

Minimum Requirements:

  • PSU student (must take 4 credits undergrad, 5 credits graduate 3 out of 4 terms)

  • Attend Media Fellows Leadership sessions (3 per term)
  • excellent communication skills, both written and verbal (especially email skills)
