Mood Swings: Future R&B and Soul
Written by DJ Ekonomiks on December 17, 2015
What’s good!
I’m back this week with an exploration into jazz influenced “Future R&B”. This combination of synthesized and acoustic music has a unique and wierd sound. It took me a bit to get into Hiatus Kaiyote, the nonsensical vocals and odd time signatures threw me off. Now, however, they are one of my favorite bands! I love the innovation and experimental songwriting of new R&B artists but I will always love the the classic R&B sound of artists like D’Angelo. There’s no dispute that jazz has influenced the new direction of R&B and soul music.
Stay wavy,
