There are three important words to remember for this session. Say it with me now: ONE. STEP. BEYOOOOOOOND! That is where Left of the Dial shall take you, both this week and every week. Travelling through the classic age of vinyl and beyond, tune in to find the rockin’ist Rocksteady beat of Madness as we are sent “One Step Beyond” your usual radio selections.
Other adventures to be had includes a choice Pablo Cruise‘s excursion into the Yacht Rock genre, a classic cut from the late/great, Aretha Franklin as she performs the delicately sentimental “Day Dreaming”, an energetic explosion into Post-Hardcore from At The Drive In, famously featuring the talents of pre-Mars Volta members Cedric Bixler-Zavala and Omar Rodriguez, proto-metal talents Budgie with their rip’n’roarin “Homicidal Suicidal”, among plenty of other exciting detours.
So kick back and relax to some sonic oddities, it’s sure to leave ya rocking and reeling from here to who knows when

(NOTE: TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES at the beginning of the session, the show turns on for real at 5:40 and should begin with “Luv N’ Haight” from Sly and The Family Stone)
Missed last week’s episode? Listen to “The Stay -at- Home Astronaut” below.
Also! I am very excited to say that the great people working with KPSU have provided me with the humongous opportunity to attend the Desert Daze festival to supply coverage for all 3 days of music. Desert Daze hosts some of the biggest and most captivating Psychedelic/Garage-Rock bands around including Tame Impala, My Bloody Valentine, Pond, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Death Grips and plenty more, including some full-album performances from the likes of Earth and Mercury Rev.
It was a great chance to see so many cutting-edge bands at such a cool venue, so keep an eye out for my written post on the festival coming soon.
