Left of the Dial “Don’t Call It A Comeback”
Written by Chris-R on September 27, 2018
Back in action playing ALL KILLER, NO FILLER, the juiciest deep cuts from the classic age of vinyl and beyond; all hand-selected for your personal enjoyment! Left of the Dial begins it’s second year at KPSU, and radio host Chris-R wants to waste no time in dishing out the best rock n’ roll goodies that this DJ has to offer. Left of the Dial is sure-fire to satisfy the tastes of any music-lover, and is bound to provide you with some new favorites of yours.
Today’s selection has a wide array of music that ranges from hard-hitting tracks bursting with creative energy (Blind Melon, Them Crooked Vultures), some oft-forgotten performances from “Rock n’ Roll royalty” tour de forces Elvis Presley, The Clash, Tears For Fears, Willie Nelson, and an abundance of unique little oddities that are just as entertaining as they are rewarding.
Want to hear a crystal smooth, decidedly funky rendition of The Beatles classic “Come Together”? You got it (The Brothers Johnson). Or how about some 1950’s Jump-Blues with blistering harmonica solos? “Rockin’ This Joint To-Nite” from Kid Thomas fits the bill. Impossible to pronounce and impossible to resist groove reggae bop? Say hello to Zungguzungguguzungguzeng by Yellowman (and yes, I absolutely had to look up how to spell it.) I’m sure everybody is also craving to hear early German pioneering of crate-diggin’ record sampling and mind-boggling use of audio manipulation and well guess what; Holger Czukay has got you covered as well.
Less talk, more rock as they say. Keep your eyes to the stars and your ear to the radio, welcome back to Left of the Dial
Enjoy the program and want to hear more? Left of the Dial airs live every Monday at 5:00, and is uploaded to stream later in the week on Spotify and KPSU’s hosting site.
