Madhouse PDX started back around 2009 when Chris Easter and George Hatiras joined forces to bring the craziest Monday night party to the Portland dance scene. Since there beginnings they have become a house music staple in the downtown Pearl district’s Dirty Spin Room having cultivated a family of like-minded house music lovers. Currently they are kicking off a huge concert series in the newly renovated Paris Theatre featuring headlines such as Hatiras, Nora En Pure, Croatia Squad, Yolanda Be Cool, EDX and more yet to be announced! Check out their full upcoming lineup at Madhouse PDX!
Part alien. Part human. Hatiras arrived back in 1999 and has been subconsciously penetrating the worlds ears, hearts and dance-floors with his pulsating, intergalactic house rhythms. He’s the owner of forward thinking and proudly underground Hatrax Records and the classic imprint Blow Media. Thanks to you, he’s been graced with too many top ten hits to count and the awards and international touring to back it.
His initial foray into the electronic music scene was as a promoter in the mid 90s. His Liquid Adrenaline parties shaped the oncoming rave revolution in North America. With average attendances of 5,000 per show and a peak at 10,000, Hatiras made a huge mark in the scene before he developed into the artist he is known as today.
As a music producer, his first UK top ten and worldwide hit Spaced Invader put him on the map back in 2001. It was selected as Pete Tong’s prestigious essential new tune twice and received heavy A-list radio play on BBC Radio 1. Things skyrocketed from there with radio stations around the world supporting Hatiras and artists like Erick Morillo, The Chemical Brothers, Danny Tenaglia, Boy George, Darren Emerson and the rest of the cream of the crop peppering their performances with music by Hatiras.
Since then he’s released over 400 singles and 7 albums exceeding sales of a million units through a multitude of labels including Defected, Ministry of Sound, Sony, Parlophone and his own labels Blow Media and Hatrax Records. He has collaborated with many of the biggest names in the business (Kylie Minogue, Bad Boy Bill, DJ Dan, MC Flipside, Nom De Strip and many others). He is also a 6 time Juno Award nominee and two time Juno and Socan Award winner for Best Dance artist in Canada.
In 2014 Hatiras smashed the mold and released a highly innovative album called “Message From 04244”. The 9 track, themed album showcased Hatiras’ production diversity and arrived with 9 amazing, spacey, inter-related music videos that link into a full movie (videos were shot, designed and edited by Hatiras). The album and videos are currently exploding on Youtube.
Fast forward to 2015 – Hatiras released his hugely successful “Back To ’99” EP, and debuted a limited edition cassette tape run of his new album titled, “2.5 Million Light Years”.
While some artists quickly fade in and out of the scene, Hatiras has continued to produce quality music while relentlessly touring the globe. He’s graced stages across Canada, the US, Europe, Australia, Japan, Ultra Music Festival, Burning Man, Dirty Dutch Festival Holland, EDC and more. Stay tuned for more exciting content by the man who has undeniably proven to be one of the true innovators, mainstays and leaders in dance music.
