Cinematic Sonic Bass with HÄANA – What The Festival 2016 Artist Spotlight
Written by DJ Mkulima (The Farmer) on June 8, 2016
HÄANA is rooted as a classically trained violinist and a world traveler, she is currently based out of Los Angeles and is inspired by her Czech, German and Norwegian heritage. Her career in music performance began at 21 when she began performing in the streets of Spain after her wallet was stolen and waiting for a replacement. Playing a travel violin and dressed in a costume, she found the love of the Spanish people exceeded her expectations. Over the years she expanded her roots, breaking out of the strict guidelines of classical music and into the experimental realm of electronically produced sounds. Described by many as “cinematic sonic bass,” HÄANA mindfully blends dramatic violin scores reminiscent of gypsy mystics, deep bass lines, ethereal other-worldly vocals, field recordings from mother nature and world beats into an immersive and dramatic electro-acoustic story.
Having performed at some of the largest and most well-respected festivals around the world (not to mention President Obama’s Inaugural Ball, and Michael Jordan’s wedding) HÄANA will be making her debut appearance at What The Festival this upcoming June 2016 at Wolf Run Ranch! Her live dance-evoking live performance features full-spectrum sounds vibrating the atoms which we are all made of evoking creative dance-movements. DEEPSØNØS, her music-mediation integration project, will be presenting a sound workshop at What The Festival. Starting with a talk about women and technology in music, followed by a music-meditation – this is a perfect way to revitalize and do some growing so be sure to check out it out if you’re lucky enough to be going to What The Festival 2016!
And her newly released Brym Remix Album!
Keep on Growing out there!
