A lifelong musician, Michael Harrison began his musical education in classical piano at the age of four.  He expanded upon his musical knowledge and performance experience in middle school playing oboe in band class but stopped upon entering high school in favor of participation in his church youth band serving as an audio engineer and playing guitar; he halted all performance driven musical activities upon entering college.  While majoring in Neuroscience at Colorado College, he invested his spare course time studying ethnomusicology.

Having been introduced to electronic music through his older brother while in high school, he formed an early connection with French electronic musicians, namely Daft Punk, Justice, and the artists of Ed Banger Records, and consequently followed artists of the Electro Clash era.  Upon the EDM boom in America, his focus shifted to absorbing and understanding as many dance music forms and performance mediums as possible.  The Aurelius project was started as a means to understand the the composition, engineering, and performance capacities of electronic dance music and use his rich musical background to create an identity in music.  Aurelius makes music inspired by the brand of techno that developed following the Electro Clash and French Touch eras.

The 28 year old’s productions are focused on creating atmospheric soundscapes utilizing industrial sounds in a percussive manner with the intention of delivering club level energy to the dance floor.  Aurelius performances exhibit a high degree of technical mixing, relying heavily on beat looping and effect modulation to build and release tension.

You can follow his musical journey on the following platforms: Soundcloud, Facebook, Twitter.
