Keys N Krates is coming to Portland’s Roseland Theatre Nov 18, 2016 and Portland local love, DeafMind, will be opening up along with KRNE and Branchez! For this episode of Learning to Grow with DJ Mkulima (The Farmer), Austin Trafficante of DeafMind took the time to sit down at KPSU and talk about the journey of DeafMind in becoming one of Porltand’s most loved bass/trap acts! We especially had the opportunity to explore the creative process and method of DeafMind and the story of their formative years of growth.
DeafMind is the Russian-American collaboration of Portland, Oregon-based, Producers/DJs, Art Drots and Austin Trafficante. The two have emerged as one of the fastest growing acts in the Northwest electronic dance music scene as a result of their top-tier production and high-energy DJ sets, which routinely leave crowds both breathless and ecstatic. Their efforts in the studio, and on the stage, recently led the duo to Las Vegas for a performance at Electric aisy Carnival 2015 after winning Insomniac’s Discovery Project. Since its inception in 2013, DeafMind has opened for industry mainstays such as, Steve Aoki, Flux Pavilion, Bro Safari, Grandtheft, Brillz, Riff Raff, Wuki, Gladiator, and more.
DeafMind has performed at Life In Color Seattle/Tacoma 2014 ¨†What The Festival?! 2014, and Foam Wonderland Eugene 2015. The two live and breathe the music they make with the singular goal of creating electrifying experiences for their audience. What started as two life-long musicians making beats for fun has transformed into a full-time occupation with no signs of slowing down. The duo landed on the Beatport Top 10 in Breakbeat in 2014 and frequently appear on the EDM Network. With support from Wuki, Gladiator, UFO!, Stanton Warriors, Krafty Kuts, and more, the two continue to prove themselves as adept producers and DJs with a relentless passion for the music they make.
