The talk that I played on the show today is called ‘Want to be happy? Be grateful’
This talk is presented by a 93 year old monk David Steindl-Rast (born July 12, 1926) . He is an American monk, author, and lecturer. He life is committed to interfaith dialogue and has dealt with the interaction between spirituality and science. In his illuminating 15 minute talk he says – The one thing all humans have in common is that each of us wants to be happy. And happiness, he suggests, is born from gratitude.
In my opinion, what this wise old monk has shared with us is really simple to follow. We have to work, work, and work some more in our weekdays. With our mind running here and there, we are hanging in the balance on a thread at record speeds. We need some time to stop, give our brain some mindful rest and look around to make a list of things you are grateful for. Then go ahead with our work in the next week, rejuvenated from the small stops of solitude. Stop, look and Go!
