Geo Dept 129: 4 Underground/Pop/Rap artists

Written by on July 19, 2018

In this show I sampled 4 successful and popular hip hop acts from 4 different regions who in different forms either as a solo artist, together, or in other groups/features, all have sold millions of albums and sold out shows. All have won awards and careers either as a solo, as a group, or in features has spanned decades which started in the mid 90s (Golden Era).

Outkast (Atlanta)

Hieroglyphics (Oakland)- Casual, Del (w/ Gorillaz), Souls of Mischief and more

Wu-Tang Clan (NYC)-Gza, Method Man and Meth in a group w/ Redman

Eminem (Detroit) solo and with Rihanna

Outkast a 2 person group, Hiero and Wu has multiple members, and Em a solo artist all started out as underground rap which the first song in their section represents. The 2nd song for each is a song that had worldwide pop success. 3rd is a mix of both where you can sense their underground lyricism roots but was an effort to reach a wider audience.

Finish the show out with just the fan version of STAN. Enjoy
