A Better Radio Hour

Written by on April 8, 2017

We all know that there are some classic rock songs out there that Just. Did. Everything. Right. And that will stand the test of time, without a doubt. We also know that some radio stations seem to take great delight in testing said songs, by playing them Every. Single. Day. Usually more than once, in fact. Turn on any “classic rock” or “the hits” station and I promise you will hear “Hotel California” within the work day. Probably within the hour. What I find most frustrating about this phenomena is that all the artists getting airtime, as they should with the impact they each made on music, have more than one good song! Aerosmith is more than “Sweet Emotion” and yes, The Animals had a songbook that spanned more than “House of the Rising Sun.” So today, I give you my picks for songs that have fallen into the shadow of their artists’ “more popular” tunes. (Though there are many, many more in each case, and I encourage you to make your own selections.)
