Each year “The Farm” (Salmo River Ranch) hosts Shambhala Music Festival, an immersive interactive music and arts festival specializing in Electronic music. What started as a grassroots festival of 500 has grown to Canada’s premiere (yet still underground) electronic music summit with a family 10,000 strong. One thing Shambhala takes pride in is they are completely free of corporate sponsorship and their food is raised on-site on what is a working farm/ranch most of the year. Literally, Shambhala is farm to table experience growing from the roots nurtured by the farmers.

This 4 day festival has a stacked lineup with music running from 10am-8am on 6 stages with some of the biggest names in electronic with stellar local support from the greater West Coast. Each stage has a unique vibe with elusive “The Fractal Forest” stage centered in a hollowed out log with 360 degrees of dance space! “The Living Room” stage sits on the river bank and features a bridge leading to a dance-island experience! Another unique facet of Shambhala is the stage managers each curate their own dream lineup sometimes meaning internal competition ultimately meaning the best lineup possible. Each stage is an interactive art installation uniquely curated to bring complimentary out of this world experiences to the entire Shambhala Family.

During the brief moments during the day when there isn’t any music playing or when your legs just get too tired take a nap by The Salmo River which runs through the ranch. Purify your soul in waters which give life to the ranch itself. Chill out under an old growth cedar tree, and listen to some tunes hangin in a hammock patch.
