Touring with Dreamdecay and Arrington De Dionyso, Thee Oh Sees make a stop at the Crystal Ballroom in Portland, Oregon for a night of experimental and psychedelic punk rock.

Thee Oh Sees are an exhilarating band to watch perform, and a band that’s ever evolving. Led by John Dwyer, their songwriter, guitarist, and vocalist, the band has seen many incarnations and been reworking their sound for years. What remains the same is the character that is John Dwyer. Dwyer plays his guitar with a short strap, and the guitar nearly touching his chin. He prances around the stage wildly, often carries or places the entire microphone into his mouth, make comical faces throughout the show, and so on. Joined by his bassist and two synchronized drummers, a show with Thee Oh Sees is set to be a unique and entertaining one.

Fans who hadn’t seen the band live before knew from the beginning it was going to be a show unlike any other, with opening sets from the experimental and strange Arrington De Dionyso, and thrashers Dreamdecay. Thee Oh Sees came onto the stage after that to set up and soundcheck their own show, with John Dwyer walking about the stage burning incense. Though Dwyer apologized for soundchecking once they were ready, the crowd could be seen cheering and headbanging the entire time. No complaints were made by the audience, and in fact loved seeing a preview of the band and show. Seeing as many bands are including soundcheck viewing into VIP packages, this is was a special treat the audience appreciated and enjoyed. Once Dwyer had finished welcoming his audience and thanking them for waiting, Thee Oh Sees went immediately into the high energy show they’re known for, before the house lights could even be turned off.

Thee Oh Sees don’t really use social media, but you can check out their website for any upcoming tour dates near you.
