Who: Tei Shi

When: October 15, 2017

Where: Holocene. Portland, Oregon

Currently on tour with Twelve’len, Tei Shi brings her R&B influenced indie electro/pop to Portland’s Holocene for an intimate night dreamy vocals and complimentary beats.

Anyone who showed up early knew they’d be in for an incredible show. Doors opened at the Holocene around 8pm, and Tei Shi’s soundcheck could be heard from outside the venue starting aroung 6:30. Her band’s instruments could be heard vividly, and felt, from outside the venue. The beats and production was loud and drew passerby’s closer to the venue to get a better listen, then Tei Shi’s voice would come in. Tei Shi has a soft, yet hypnotizing voice. Her actual show didn’t disappoint either.

Fans came through to help Tei Shi make the Holocene hers on that Sunday night. Many even came early and enjoyed Twelve’len’s set, with murmurs overheard in the crowd of people discussing their set. Of course, the audience’s satisfaction was unparalleled as soon as Tei Shi came onstage. Members of the crowd moments before could be overheard asking “When is mom coming out?” and “Where is my lady?” Once Tei Shi did come out and walk onstage, the crowd was hushed and became lost in her music. Softly whispering along to her lyrics, and following her as she danced across the stage. Her mesmerizing set was the perfect way to close out the week in Portland, and a perfectly intimate show for a Sunday night.
