Pacific Patterns EP Preview and Short Interview | 5.4
Written by DJ Nico Troi on May 13, 2017
Pacific Patterns is a local Portland artists that produces a mix of sounds. Christopher Peterson is the man behind the name. Last time he came on KPSU it was on Learning to Grow with DJ Mkulima. This episode, he coined the phrase, “I rip up sound like a Christmas present” as we dove deep into discussion about his upcoming EP called ‘Purple Garden’ coming out on May 23rd, 2017 on Street Ritual Record Label.
He has been working on these tracks for some time now and curated 4 beautiful tracks, that we go through and talk about through out the show. One cool topic we reach into is how he takes audio samples from real life, tearing them up, processing them and turning them into something completely different. An example of this would be the sample found in one of the songs where you here someone walking in the snow and crows cawing in the background.
