For my first show I wanted to start with music that my dad raised me on. His favorite artist is Patsy Cline I will always remember what he told me about when he found her music. He would sit next to the record player with headphones on and let her voice melt him like butter. This type of music always raises a nostalgic feeling within me reminding me of our family drives driving up to our cabin. I think that this music is what was paving the way for rock and roll especially artist such as Waylon Jennings and Johnny Cash. In pop culture usually the Beatles is referenced when speaking of the ”start of rock and roll” but for me I feel Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings were the trailblazers of their time singing about more “progressive/proactive“ things in their time.
