Afternoon Blues (Episode 1)

Written by on November 16, 2015

Afternoon Blues marks the inaugural episode of The Cue on KPSU.ORG. Filled with soulful melodies, blue note guitars and samba rhythms, this is 57 minutes of chiller than chill vibes. Get your pipes, dreams and blues aligned with this music,

The Cue is presented entirely on vinyl from tunes collected in hidden crates across the West Coast by Christian Davis. Afternoon Blues includes throwback tunes from George Benson, Stanley Turrentine, Booker t & the MGs and more modern spins like Wynton Marsalis. Hosted/curated by cousins Shay and Christian Davis respectively. Cheers to your ears!

Quote of the week:

“Jazz is the big brother of the blues. If a guy’s playing blues like we play, he’s in high school. When he starts playing jazz it’s like going on to college, to a school of higher learning.” – B.B. King

The Cue airs live every Monday from 3pm to 4pm on – Portland’s College Radio. If you have suggestions or comments, please shoot us an email. Thanks for listening and supporting the best free-form college radio station in the world! – Christian & Shay xoxo
