Written by Antonio Matic on December 30, 2015
Where will New Years Eve take you in 2015? I know where I will be: Inspire Truth presented by Beloved. The Producer/DJ David Block AKA The Human Experience will also be there serenading us with a mix of what he terms as downtempo, electronic, organic, cinematic, love making, sexy time, trip hop, psychedelic, yum. If you want to catch his show, he will be at The Portland Art Museum this Thursday December 31st, at 1119 SW Park Ave. Doors open at 9pm and as of this morning tickets are sold out. Expect to see David at the Lotus Lounge where he will showering musical blessings from 11:30pm-1:30am . The response to his live shows has been great, with attendees exclaiming, “David is constantly pushing the boundaries of live electronic music. Playing, composing, and conducting his own electronic symphony live on stage, his performances are brimming and layered with human emotion, world exploration, and sacred sounds. Whether performing by himself, or with a live band, “The Human Experience” always delivers an emotionally charged show.
The Human Experience is a live music project started by David Block – a global DJ based in Los Angeles, California. He composes live music with multiple instruments, and creates a blend of sounds that include reggae, electro, and swing in a compelling hour set. David has collaborated with artists all over the world including
Ignacio Perez (Buena Vista Social Club), Rising Appalachia, William Close (The Earth Harp), Random Rab, Govinda, and many others. Since his debut album “Inaudible Sounds” in 2010, he has released 9 other albums in the last five years, including Seeing is Believing EP (2011), The Art of the Way, (2012), and Soul Visions (2013) with Rising Appalachia. On each album, each song is a sonic journey; interweaving psychedelic layers of melody and harmony with organic grooves and international vibes. In 2010 David expanded into the mixed media world by composing and performing live with the Audio/Visual/Dance projects “Phadroid” (Andrew and Phaedra Jones), “Quixotic”, “Lucent Dossier”, and “Seraphim”. David has played prominent music festivals like Burning Man, Boom, Electric Forest, Wakarusa, Lightning in a Bottle, Symbiosis, and Envision Music Festival. David is consistently redefining himself as an artist, performer, and human being. Moving and traveling around the world, meeting people from all walks of life and realms of consciousness, he is continually learning, growing, and sharing inspiration with those around him.
As if the show couldn’t get any better the openers for The Human Experience are Natasha Kmeto (playing 10:30pm-11:30pm) and Guda (playing 9:00pm-10:30pm). All these artists will be bringing the noise and putting on a great set of performances sure to be remembered through the coming year. Natasha Kmeto has her own solid growing fan base that will support her at the Lotus Lounge before The Human Experience. Her most recent release is the Inevitable EP, which came out in September 2015 with positive reviews.
With all that said I think it is safe to assume that we are in store for an exciting night filled with musical magic and shenanigans that ensue. I can’t wait for my own human experience.
