Track Feature: Tiny Fireflies – Melody (The Bilinda Butchers remix)
Written by Lanny on February 9, 2016
Imagine your favorite dream pop act from the Orchid Tapes circle collaborating with an up-and-coming indie pop act on a remix. That sounds like… a dream, yeah? Well, it’s not. You’re fully awake and I’m here to tell you that this is R-E-A-L-I-T-Y.
Reigning from Chicago, Tiny Fireflies is an electronic act whose enchanting sound is the combination of vintage synthesizers, drum machines, and Kristine Capua’s breathy vocals. As a special gift to their fans, Tiny Fireflies, teamed up with San Francisco’s The Bilinda Butchers to release an exclusive remix of their track “Melody” for their debut of The Space Between in Japan (Art Union/Network) last week.

The Bilinda Butchers
Now this collaboration is more of a meeting between old friends than a first-time encounter. In 2012, Capua lent her voice to The Bilinda Butchers’ track, “hai bby”. Small world, huh? Anyone who has heard of The Bilinda Butchers knows that these boys are experts when it comes to writing and recording dreamy numbers. In 2015, however, The Bilinda Butchers dropped their cover of “Sentimental Girl’s Violent Joke” and pleasantly surprised everyone with the new direction they were moving towards. This new sound, which can also be easily identified in “Melody”, incorporates elements of shoegaze and house music, transcending genres and mesmerizing listeners everywhere.
Take a listen to The Bilinda Butchers’ remix of Tiny Fireflies’ “Melody” below and see for yourself.
