Tigers Jaw Is Coming to the Alhambra Theater April 18th!

Written by on April 9, 2015

Straight out of Scranton, Pennsylvania comes Tigers Jaw to the Alhambra Theater on April 18th— their first show in Portland in almost two years. Despite their lack of presence in Portland, the band has had a non-stop past couple years. After completing split EPs with bands such as Balance & Composure, Code Orange Kids, and Tiny Empires, the band released their fourth studio LP Charmer last spring in the midst of rumors of a potential hiatus and the parting of three members. The album, recorded prior to the departure of Adam Mcilwee (guitar), Dennis Mishko (bass), and Pat Brier (drums), strayed from the pop punk sounds present in the band’s earlier work and more towards an indie-rock feel. Highlights off the album include “Hum,” “Cool,” and “Frame You.”

Brianna Collins and Ben Walsh, the two remaining original members of Tigers Jaw will share the stage of the Alhambra with touring members Derrick Sherman (guitar), Andrew Fisher (bass) and James Fisher (drums) on the 18th. With an ever-changing lineup and a morphing sound self-described as “equal parts Fleetwood Mac and Brand New,” they will be joined by Buffalo’s indie punk-pop trio Lemuria and Boston’s Somos. Lemuria’s LP The Distance Is So Big was released in 2013 and Somos’ debut Temple of Plenty was released just last year. Together, the east coast trio will travel to the west— hitting Portland along the way.

Tickets for the all ages show are $13-15 and available online here. Madison of Tangerine Dream and Juice of The Juice Wisdom and Vibes Hour will be there. Stop by and say hi!
