Smashing Pumpkins at Portland’s Moda Center Concert Preview
Written by DJ Rachelle on August 21, 2018
Smashing Pumpkins first tour in nearly 20 years is happening now. They’ll be at Portland’s Moda center this Saturday August 25th.
The Smashing Pumpkins album Siamese Dream was in heavy rotation during my tween angsty phase of not full-blown teenage hating everything but just hating most things. Re-listening to the album after the 2012 sound remastering I have a new appreciation for this Grammy award winning band.
The heavy grunge almost metal guitar and drum lines paired with Billy Corgan’s unique vocals sharing their stories and emotions via song lyrics was not fully appreciated until hearing the remastered version. Instead of nostalgic, their music has a fresh place along with newer rock bands I listen to on Spotify. (All their music on Spotify is here: Smashing Pumpkins Spotify)
As a (mostly) grown up, large concerts now have to either bring a full pageantry of lights, effects, stunts, etc. or blow me away with the level of talent contained in one human being. Concerts like Smashing Pumpkins get me excited to witness both.
It is a thing of beauty to hear the amount of energy and emotion Corgan packs into a single drawn out vowel. To see it in person, I can only imagine how awesome it will be. Actually, I don’t have to imagine it and neither do you. They are on tour now and tickets are available!
