The UK rock band that consists of Van McCann (vocals, guitar), Johnny Bond (guitar), Benji Blakway (bass), and Bob Hall (drums) preformed an amazing concert this last holiday weekend. Before they even set foot on the stage the theater was already filled with die hard fans that were ready to sing their hearts out with the band.
The backdrop of the stage was a giant alligator biting it’s own tail (the album cover of their most recent album The Ride) and the lights throughout the show were astounding and ever-changing with every new song that was performed. Their first three songs performed were “7”, “Kathleen” and “Soundcheck” all immediately after each other. “7” and “Soundcheck” are both from their most recent album The Ride and “Kathleen” from their 2014 album The Balcony. The audience did not stop cheering throughout their exhilarating intro. The entirety of the Roseland Theater’s floor and balcony were on their feet with their hands up in the air to each song.
By the end of this intense show, some crowd surfers were even rolling their way to the front of the crowd, something that is forbidden at the Roseland Theater and most venues nowadays. The highly engaged crowd, which was about half female/half male did most of McCann’s singing with him. It’s always a nice refresher to see true talent, instrumental skill and beautiful singing at a show, especially after the rise of electronic music.
