NECRONOMICON – Standing the Test of Time

Written by on November 8, 2019

Necronomicon puts on a hell of a show. Although they’ve been playing for over 30 years, the energy they exude on stage remains fresh. Reaching audiences from children to long time fans, everyone was moshing in the Bossanova Ballroom last Thursday night. A memorable sight was seeing a 10 year old kid moshing with a Gen Xer and see them both fully enjoying Necronomicon’s brutal yet fun assault. It’s rare that a band can reach such a wide audience. Necronomicon does it well.

Their new album Unus is a visceral metal experience, blackened by sweeping orchestral pads and ghostly choirs. The lyrics conjure up ghastly , otherworldly imagery from their namesake, H.P. Lovecraft’s fictional grimoire Necronomicon. It all comes together to form a cohesive, epic record that is sure to awaken the Great Old Ones.
