Hip Hop legend Pete Rock coming to the Hawthorne Theatre March 31st
Written by PDX Mandem on March 25, 2015
As a producer, DJ, and MC, Pete Rock has had his hand in shaping the modern sound of hip hop since its very early origins in New York City. Having teamed up with lyricist and MC CL Smooth in the early 90’s, Pete Rock crafted some of the most recognizable and timeless productions in what’s often referred to as the “Golden Age” of hip hop.
Drawing from the sounds of old vinyl records, PR takes music from the past and effortlessly slices, chops, and arranges new compositions that bring life to these seemingly long forgotten tunes from decades past.
This coming Tuesday Pete Rock brings his talents to Portland, Oregon and the Hawthorne Theatre. He is joined by none other then the legendary Detroit hip hop group, Slum Village, who worked closely with another legendary producer, J Dilla, before he passed away in 2006.
Mike Trasher Presents: Pete Rock with support from Slum Village, HANiF, DJ Wels, and Tope.
Tickets available for $18 online or $20 at the door. Tuesday, March 31st, 2015. Doors open at 7 PM, show starts at 8 PM. Hawthorne Theatre, 1507 SE 39th Ave, Portland, OR 97214. 503.233.7100
