18th Annual Olympia Experimental Music Fest
Written by Ricardo Wang on June 17, 2012
I will be gone next week for the 18th Annual Olympia Experimental Music Festival and won’t be doing What’s This Called? for the week. My hour is in the capable hands of the lovely and talented Miss Rikki who will give you an extra long and exciting Closet Radio episode.
I started the Olympia Experimental Music Fest in 1995 and am returning as curator this year in a “back to our roots” event that also brings the fest back to the Midnight Sun at 113 N. Columbia. Artists Include Amy Denio & Emily Hay, XAMBUCA from North Carolina, Blue Sabbath Black Cheer, Crank Sturgeon, and a one time reunion of Chuck Swaim with the Dead Air Fresheners. 21 mind bending performances in all!
June 22-24th. Well worth the trip for Portlanders. Or if you want to contribute whether you can make it or not there is a Kickstarter Page set to cover rent and printing costs so all ticket sales go direct to the traveling artists. With gas in the NW the highest priced in the country, you know that will help!
