Pioneering Recording and Publisher Ralph Peer
Written by Randy Black on May 31, 2015
On Episode 40 of Viking Twang, we celebrate the legacy of talent scout, producer, publisher and recording executive Ralph Peer, as detailed in the new book, “Ralph Peer and the Making of Popular Roots Music,” by Barry Mazor. Peer discovered countless artists, including the Carter Family and Jimmie Rodgers, made sure that musicians and composers were fairly compensated, and brought musicians from regional music scenes into the recording studios and homes around the world.
