An Interview with VÉRITÉ

For this podcast, I had the pleasure to talk to VÉRITÉ before her show at the Doug Fir Lounge. To listen to the interview you can use the soundcloud player at the top of the page, or you can listen by clicking the ‘Click here to download’ near the bottom of the page to download and stream the podcast. The songs played after the interview are listed below.
Since I began talks with her team, I’ve been extremely excited to interview VÉRITÉ. She stopped by the station for an in studio interview before her show on May 29 at Portland’s Doug Fir Lounge. Up until this point I had done only a few phone interviews, and on site interview before a show. VÉRITÉ was my first guest physically in the studio, and I am so thankful to have had her as a guest. VÉRITÉ and I talked about her tour, and all about her new EP Living. Of course, it wouldn’t be one of my interviews without the segment Real Talk. She told me all about her crush Gwen Stefani, her love of pop music, was the first person to prefer Backstreet Boys over NSYNC, and much more. Listen to the podcast for the entire interview!
Photos I shot of VÉRITÉ from Portland’s show can be found in this Facebook album. Everything about the show was perfect, and the two bands playing before VÉRITÉ were incredible – Pleasure Curses put on a fun and great performance, and I left the venue a huge fan of Lostboycrow. These two acts were the best artists to open for VÉRITÉ, and the audience especially loved Lostboycrow’s set. Nearly everyone in the lounge was dancing along, and many already new the words to his songs. VÉRITÉ, as expected, was flawless. She truly delivered and left Portland awestruck. Hearing her music for the first time blew me away, seeing her perform is an entirely different experience. Everything about her performance is breathtaking, and her vocals live are just as captivating as the studio versions of her songs – if not more so. VÉRITÉ’s 12 song set featured all 5 songs off her new EP Living, a couple songs off her other two EPs, and a cover of Childish Gambino’s Sober. The energy from all the bands, from the audience, and especially from VÉRITÉ was honestly life changing. This was my first time at the Doug Fir Lounge, and was the perfect concert to introduce me to its intimate setting. VÉRITÉ is truly a gifted artist on stage and in studio. Though she just released an EP, I can’t begin to express my excitement for more music from her. Do not miss VÉRITÉ’s show if she ever comes to your city. It’s hard to describe how unbelievably great of a show she gives; this is an experience that must be witnessed firsthand. I’ll be seeing her the next time she’s in Portland, and look forward to it.
