Brooke Fraser on Short Memory - Be there!

Brooke Fraser is a New Zealand born, Australian singer/songwriter. She's pretty big in the land down under (like multiplatinum big), and is embarking on her first US tour, along with William Fitzsimmons, who I interviewed near the beginning of April. She's got a lovely voice (compare to Ingrid Michaelson or Jessie Baylin), and is bound to gain some serious state-side attention with the US release of her latest album, Albertine, and the supporting tour. Anyway, it's gonna be a great show, I'm psyched. Tune in.

Hotel Cafe Artists on Short Memory

Last week, I interviewed William Fitzsimmons and Jesca Hoop, two amazing artists who are currently traveling with the Hotel Cafe Tour. Check out these interviews on the archive, well worth your time. And the music's good, too. Real good. Went to the show last night, and both of them played solid sets. They had one backup band, all incredible musicians, and each artist took turns playing 3-4 songs, with a varying lineup of backup musicians and vocalists. Most artists were on twice, and there was the occiasional song with everyone on stage, of course.

This week's Short Memory: check it

The Hotel Cafe Tour is rolling into town this Wednesday at the Wonder Ballroom, and I'll be interviewing two of the featured artists this Friday night on Short Memory.

Post Harbor - TONIGHT!!!

Heynow,

Great rock band from Seattle, Post Harbor, will be performing on tonight's Short Memory at 11pm. They are here in town for the weekend, and will be playing a show Saturday night. Both shows are gonna rock!!

So, check it out, and tell your friends.

Beat the Devil Back

Hallelujah, it's live Americana on Short Memory tonight.

Yes, brothers and sisters, we're gonna kick up the dust and shoo that old serpent right on back to where he come from.

I've been listening to a lot of Americana this week getting ready for tonight's show, and it's interesting how much of it deals with the devil, either falling for his nasty tricks, or getting him hence.

Wa-yoy yoyo

Get ready. Tomorrow night on Short Memory, I'll be spinning a near-perfect Matisyahu concert. This particular recording captures the energy of a Matisyahu concert better than anything I've heard. It's going to rock y'all's world.

Raise the Bridges

Tonight on Short Memory (11pm, yawl), local hip-hop group, Raise the Bridges, will be playing live at the station. These guys mix a lot of influences from rock to dub into their craft to form a grooveable sound. Give a listen, then check out their show dates. It's gonna be most excellent.

Then stay tuned for the second hour where I'll be spinning some old live Fugazi stuff. That's right, brothers and sisters, Fugazi.

You've got to change your evil ways. Baby.

This Friday, Short Memory will feature a Santana concert from 1978 at the Bottom Line in New York City.

Once in a Lifetime

Heynow,

If you like the Talking Heads as much as I do (and I know you do), or even a bit less than I do (what?), then be sure and tune in this Friday at 11pm.

I received special permission from David Byrne's management to air some excellent unofficial live recordings. Two of them, in fact (maybe more if you're lucky), dating from as early as 1978. These recordings are old, but the sound quality is pristine. Plus, it's Talking Heads at their finest.
