Promotions staff: pick of the week-PAUL CARY GHOST OF A MAN

Artist:
PAUL CARY
Review:

Old style recording, soul southing lyrics, and moody guitar.
Paul Cary brings back the essence of punk long forgotten.
I listen to paul cary when I need a pick me up on a day when the roller coaster is down.
Goes good with:
A cheap whiskey drink, good company and lavish amounts of time to stare at the wall

Devolutionary Tactics

Artist:
Devo
Review:

Devolution is a painful process for many bands, often slipping into a period of releasing a series of bad records before descending into self-parody and, yikes, Greatest Hits Tours. (Shudder.) It happens to the best of them, and in many cases, the successes of the past aren’t even enough to make up for the sins of today. Starting out great is often the worst career move a band can make, with the full knowledge that it only gets worse from then on out.

Review:

Don't you just hate that when you want to do something creative but you have to take a massive bowel movement before hand? Please don't misunderstand, I love my meetings with the man about a dog, but it gets kind of annoying.

Skelly Riot - Self Titled EP

Artist:
Skelly Riot
Review:

Skelly Riot, a trio from Portland, Oregon is comprised of some of the better known reggae musicians in town. The reggae and dub influence is all over this 5 song EP, yet they integrate that sound with so many other genres that the end result is a refreshing blend of melody, rhythm, texture, and emotion. The upbeat and philosophical message of reggae is found in these compositions, most notably on “La Sangre Dulce”, where singer Chris Williams, through use of a talk box asks a series of inward-looking questions (“Where will we go when there is nowhere else to run?

Review:

OMG OMG OMG!
The leader of the rainbow colored unicorn army is back! And while the unicorns are no longer visible on the album, I can tell that Valo (aka: Vishnudata) has hidden them throughout the tracks on his new album -simply titled 'Vishnudata'.

Review:

Some days are simply those days. They are hard to describe. The world isn't bleak. The sun is shining. You aren't really tired. You weren't recently dumped or fired; hell, you may have even found something you have long since lost. But for some reason, something is off.

Review:

And now . . . we are in August.
I paid rent yesterday. Bloody rent. Rent is like a ghost; always lingering about when you wish it wasn't. You want to sleep. You want to go about your day. You want a simple answer to a straightforward question. The ghost is lurking and giving riddles. Bloody ghosts.

Review:

And here we are again. I know it is shocking to hear from me so much in such a short period of time, but life tends to happen in cycles and we are currently in a cycle of music and dance. We are also in a cycle of tension. I normally don't subscribe to concepts of astrology, but I have been noticing a trend of the seasons these past few years and perhaps there is something to it. Or maybe I just like to have as many scapegoats at my disposal as possible.

Review:

And the great EvsY are back with another rockin' album of uptempo insane dance music.
If memory serves, this is album 4 from this duo and it is as slamming, funky, bouncy, and danceable as the rest of their catalog.
I'm currently hanging out in the lovely (lol) Philadelphia airport and have a few hours to kill before my connecting flight. While sitting here, I decided to finally give this album a listen and try to bust out a review. We'll see if I can manage to do this. I think I need a drink. LoL.
