The feast is always fun, but in the days that follow there's always too many leftovers, in nearly every sense of the word. Rather than fear the enemy that lurks within our own homes, we decided to face this head on, and bring you a little show called, "Thanksgiving Leftovers." There was so much this year, it seeped into the music. Expect plenty of turkey, potatoes galore, a case of the hiccups, and food, food, food.
I was particularly excited to locate an appropriate recording by one of my radio idols, Robert Krulwich, better known these days as the "other half" of the Radiolab team. I've been a fan of Robert ever since I saw him hanging with They Might Be Giants back in the day, and I knew as soon as I sat down to put together this show, I had to include his piece on the word turkey. Most everything else fit around that.
As mentioned on air, special thanks to Isosceles Diego for slipping me a number of great soul songs that featured leftover themes. He let me come over and gorge myself on his own edible leftovers as we entered into an Armando Iannucci / Emperor Of The North media marathon, which was a stand-up think for him to do, and a great way to coax food-themed soul music out of him. This show improved 100% with his additions.
See ya in seven.
