Right now, I should be reading up on Vygotsky and his theories involving the Zone of Proximal Development. I should be writing about how this ZPD relates to how children learn and different ways that we can implement these theories into our schools so that we can achieve greater success and become a stronger and better city/state/nation/world/species.
But you know what?
I've been listening to this new Rip Van Hippy album for 2 weeks straight and it is time for me to talk about it.

When I first received and began listening to this album, I was worried. When I see a 173bpm listed on an album, I normally run for the hills. I like my music to be psychedelic and have a variety of tempos, but 173 is fast. I don't normally like fast psytrance. I like some happy hardcore and some of the funner breakcore stuff, but fast pounding psytrance is not my cup of tea.
Fortunately, this album isn't like that.
Tamlin's album 'Spectrogram' (Faerie Dragon Records) is actually a brilliant multi-tempo'd journey. One with lush melodies and a great driving feel.
Twins from hong kong, catchy songs, call back to 80's, a bit cheesy.

While there are many false dichotomies in this world, the truest of all dichotomies is Rad vs Not-Rad.
James Reipas is rad. The raddest of the rad.
James Reipas is the cornerstone and dictionary definition of rad.
Do you listen to music?
James Reipas is better than whatever you listen to.
Do you write music?
James Reipas is better than what you write.
Do you like fun?
Then you must like James Reipas.

Ladies and gentlemen, the Faggotts are back.
It's been a while since Texas Faggott have unlocked your skull, opened your mind and then filled it with puke n piss; but the wait is over and it feels more transcendent than ever before.
If you don't know Texas Faggott, this review might be a bit rough to follow; but give it a try and maybe you'll learn something.

Grapefruit is a delicious fruit.
It is tart and sweet. It is juicy and has yummy vitamins in it.
It mixes wonderfully with gin and can also accompany a bit of tequila.
Grapefruit is a good fruit.
I spent a large chunk of time writing a review this afternoon. This review. But then it disappeared.
It got deleted from my saved folder. :(
Now, this could have been user error. Things happen and maybe I did something that was not quite right. But maybe it vanished for a reason.

Oh Ott. How do I love thee so?
Your music n awesomeness have reached new heights in my brain this morning.
Upon starting your new album, Skylon (Twisted Records), I was transported.
Transported to a time before you existed. A time when my love of another kept my brain filled with bubbles of serotonin.
A time when her name was Orbital.

It took 0 minutes and 44 seconds of this album playing before the hairs on the back of my neck stood up and a smile to hit my face.
Before the song hit 1:28, I was hooked and stoked.
Years ago when I first started listening to Ticon, I had no idea that they would eventually become the PsyTrance act I would have seen the most live. I also had no idea that I would grow to like them so much, that when they finally graced the stage at a miserable festival on a Sunday morning, they would almost single-handedly make everything worth it.

Odd Man Out is the name of an album created by Outolintu. Outolintu is a person named Jürgen Sachau. Jürgen Sachau is . . . . totally rad.
Odd Man Out is also totally rad.
I am sitting here -at the end of 2007- and there were a lot of great releases this year. Some were big news and others went unnoticed. Outolintu's debut release is probably in the 'unnoticed' column for many of you, which is sad. It shouldn't be. 'Odd Man Out' is an album that should be in the homes of many. Actualy. . . of all.
. . . .it should be played in all forests too.
out of 10It has been a few years since the good people at Freakdance Records have given the world any new product. Their last release was in 2005 and I have been missing them ever since. Well, no more!
