Shambhala Music Festival 2018 – Farmily Review with DJ Mkulima (The Farmer)

Written by DJ Mkulima (The Farmer) on September 11, 2018

Shambhala Music Festival, nestled in Canada’s breathtaking Kootenay Mountain range and paradise of The Salmo River, has built their reputation as the premiere electronic dance music festival in The Pacific Northwest. Shambhala has Grown to an international phenomenon where dance lovers travel from every corner of the globe to this temporary city in the woods. Learning to Grow with DJ Mkulima (The Farmer) went back to the Shambhala farmily this past August, check out the photo-bucket and featured KPSU episodes below!

Derived from the mythical city of Tibetan Buddhist and Hindu lore, the name Shambhala takes inspiration as a dreamy space of enlightenment. “Home” as the Shambhalites call it, Shambhala feels like home; full of Farmily, love, compassion, and genuine care for each other’s well-being. An aspect of Shambhala that sets it apart from many other large-scale festivals is that so many of the attendees rave about the Shambhalove and care for one another. Shambhala is a place where one can truly be and express whatever it is that person is with no fear of judgement and awaiting open loving arms from everyone around.

Featuring mind-blowing immersive art installation stages, an immaculate river paradise with live music, unique artists, and world-class music producers/DJs Shambhala is a mecca for creatives. Each stage is carefully curated and built upon each year to project the love that goes into the lead up to the festival. Taking place on a working living farm with cows and crops, Shambhala is a permanent art installation and most of the year ghost town wherein the space evolves during the off-season at the will of the stage care takers. Each year the crew modifies the stages bringing new life to the forest for each Shambhala August renewal.

Join the Farmily at Shambhala 2019 and open your heart and mind to those you have yet to meet.
