Surprise guest and scene stealer Jaden Smith (yes – the famous actor/rapper/child of Will & Jada Smith) joined Harry Hudson onstage for the last 2 songs of the night at the Hawthorne Theater in Portland, Oregon.

Hawthorne Theater is known as a bit older venue (it doesn’t have the newest/fanciest equipment or have posh décor) which made Jaden Smith’s appearance all the more surprising. The lineup for the Wednesday night show was eclectic genre wise but the audience stuck around for all three acts. Opening hip-hop act Silas was fun and played up to the mostly Gen Z crowd. Hawthorne Theatert is one of the few locations still hosting all ages concerts.

JP Saxe followed Silas and mixed up singer-songwriter tracks with some slightly folksy and some more pop-y songs. The slightly larger crowd at that point had a mix of ages and one audience member insisted on singing along with all of his released tracks. Thankfully he played a few unreleased songs which will be available this weekend on Spotify, iTunes, and all other online music sources.

JP’s songs often have romantic themes but not in the cringe worthy pop style; but the kind even a hard-core feminist would approve and perhaps swoon over. His rich tenor vocals paired with warm guitar and bright keys fill out each song beautifully.

Headliner Harry Hudson went all over the genre spectrum: rap, country, pop, and some hard rock. His vocals are very similar to Panic at the Disco’s front man Brendon Urie which help carry the multi-genre spectrum. Harry’s enthusiastic stage antics encouraged the crowd to dance, bounce and stay engaged through out.

Surprise guest and scene stealer Jaden Smith (yes – the famous actor/rapper/child of Will & Jayda Smith) joined Harry onstage for the last 2 songs. Harry introduced Jaden as someone who’s always encouraged and supported his music dreams. The last few hip-hop songs of the night performed by this duo knocked it out of the park. Here’s hoping they collaborate more often.
