Multimedia Director

Starting Fall Term 2018

Compensation: $1,500 per-term stipend

11-19 hours per week

The Multimedia Director is responsible for the visual aspects of KPSU as well as managing KPSU social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram). This includes creating media such as posters for upcoming events, graphics for the website, banners, t-shirt, merchandise, custom graphics etc. The Multimedia Director will work closely with the Promotions Director to create graphics for various web and print outlets, coordinate promotion on social media platforms, and send press releases to local news outlets, and manage the majority of KPSU’s outward-facing communication.  

Major Responsibilities:

  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite CS5+ recommended
  • Understand basic design concepts
  • Conceptualize design campaigns especially with the annual Pledge Drive
  • Develop and design materials for print and web for various events
  • Use photographs thoughtfully and appropriately in design concepts
  • Practice proper file management/formatting and have high standards for organization
  • Properly format files for output to print vendors
  • Knowledge of digital photo editing and processing for print and web
  • Coordinate social media coverage (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube)
  • Work closely with the Promotions Director and FedEx
  • Hold and adhere to regularly scheduled office hours
  • Attend weekly staff meetings

Minimum Requirements:

  • PSU student (must take 4 credits undergrad, 5 credits graduate 3 out of 4 terms)
  • Minimum GPA (2.5 undergrad, 3.0 graduate)
  • Attend Media Fellows Leadership sessions (3 per term)
  • Art & Design student a plus, but not required
  • Excellent communication skills

Music Director

Starting Fall Term 2018

Compensation: $1,500 per-term stipend

11-19 hours per week

The music director’s main job is managing the music library. This job entails maintaining contact with record labels, distributors, and promoters responsible for giving new music to KPSU, overseeing the reviewing process, managing the KPSU CD Library, and submitting College Music Journal (CMJ) charts.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Report to the College Music Journal (CMJ) every week, list the top 30 plays of the week for the station
  • Keep track of every music recording as follows:
  1. the material is numbered and placed in our database that keeps an alphabetized listing of everything that we have in the studio
  2. mark all songs that are not playable for air
  3. the material is place in the studio for DJs to use, all within two weeks
  • Coordinate to preview new materials and censor any material not suitable for air-play
  • Report progress of activities and volunteer opportunities to the station manager
  • Hold and adhere to regularly scheduled office hours
  • Attend weekly staff meetings

  • PSU student (must take 4 credits undergrad, 5 credits graduate 3 out of 4 terms)
  • Minimum GPA (2.5 undergrad, 3.0 graduate)
  • Attend Media Fellows Leadership sessions (3 per term)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent leadership skills

Volunteer Director

Starting Fall Term 2018

Compensation: $1,500 per-term stipend

11-19 hours per week

The volunteer director is responsible for the recruiting, training, and settling of new DJs, networking with DJs regarding volunteer opportunities, and maintaining an open line of communication with all current DJs in order to ensure their needs are met. Occasionally, the volunteer director will be asked to remove programming from offending DJs, so ability to stand ground, and avoid letting business turn personal is necessary.

Main responsibilities:

  • Help DJs through the training process
  • Conduct the first training session with the Programming Director and the Station Manager
  • Contact SALP and CPSO to obtain and maintain badge access to the station for DJs
  • Organize community events for DJs
  • Add new DJs to KPSU Listserv and KPSU DJ Forum
  • Hold and adhere to regularly scheduled office hours
  • Attend weekly staff meetings

Minimum Requirements:

  • PSU student (must take 4 credits undergrad, 5 credits graduate 3 out of 4 terms)
  • minimum GPA (2.5 undergrad, 3.0 graduate)
  • Attend Media Fellows Leadership sessions (3 per term)
  • Experience as a DJ
  • Extremely strong interpersonal skills
  • Highly organized

Station Manager:

Starting Summer Term 2018

Compensation: $2,300 per-term stipend

The KPSU station manager has the responsibility of overseeing all KPSU activities, hired personnel, on-air DJs, and volunteers. The station manager reports to the assigned student media advisor and is responsible for the timely and accurate submission of the stations annual budget proposal.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Direct and coordinate of all KPSU directors and their volunteer’s activities in the areas of programming, promotion, production, volunteer, music, development, tech, multimedia, web, and others as they are created.
  • Oversee the budget to ensure fiscal responsibility
  • Prepare annual budget proposal and attend all related SFC hearings
  • Chair all weekly staff meetings
  • Sign off all expenditure requests, underwriting contracts, grant applications, payroll requests and all other financial matters.
  • Sign off station handbook revisions and all operating handbooks.
  • Stay abreast of all FCC rule changes
  • Communicate weekly with student media advisor
  • Communicate weekly with staff to successfully complete both short and long term projects by established deadlines
  • Hold and adhere to regularly scheduled office hours
  • Attend weekly staff meetings
