Written by Jon G on June 28, 2015
Toe is an instrumental post-rock group from Japan. The Japanese band is comprised of Kashikura Takashi on drums, Mino Takaaki and Yamazaki Hirokazu on guitars, and Yamane Satoshi on bass. They are currently one of three bands on the indie label Machu Picchu. Toe’s music can be described as light and melodic, with rare instances of minor vocals in their songs. This band is worth listening to regardless of genre you are into. The vast majority of the music is instrumental and features swift and acute upbeat drum patterns with clean melodic settings incorporating acoustic guitars, rhodes piano, and vibraphones. These guys usually tour Japan, so their US tour dates are sure to have an explosive live performance while still setting a harmonic mood.
Born in Tokyo, Japan and now resident of Los Angeles, California – starRo is a guitarist, keyboardist, and producer. Part of the Los Angeles independent label Soulection, starRo has toured the United States, Canada, and Asia playing alongside artists like Flume, Chet Faker, Gold Link, and Giraffage. Known for his soulful electronic music, he blends elements from Bossa Nova, Downtempo, Folktronica, Soul, Trap, Hip Hop, and pulls creative inspiration from the sounds of Stevie Wonder, The Neptunes, Sly Stone, J Dilla and Bill Evans. StarRo’s lush chords and atmospheric melodies make him a standout artist on the electronic beat scene.
