The primary differences between the style of Chicago Blues and Texas Blues is that Chicago incorporates more extended notes off of the standard 6 note blues scale. It also uses more amplified instruments such as the electric and the bass guitars. Texas Blues on the other hand, incorporates the heavy use of the acoustic guitar and this allows for more of a swing feel to it which resonates the sound of Big Band era Jazz.
Lousiana born Buddy Guy (July 30th, 1936) has been inspiration to such notable blues artists such as Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and the Rolling Stones and through this helped propell the 60's British Blues Invasion. In his biography he said he was personally influenced by blues greats B.B.King and Magic Slim. He said that he wanted to play the guitar like B.B. and perform like Magic. (Magic's style was flamboyent and this apparently has worked in Buddy's favor). Fortunately for us Buddy is still touring and tour dates and cities can be seen on his website at www.buddyguy.net.
